Over the past decade, the foundation has grown steadily, impacting many lives in Western Jamaica and beyond. Through partnerships with local health departments, healthcare professionals, and community organizations, it continues to provide essential education and support.

I was honoured to answer Dorothy’s call to speak on Janet Silvera The Page during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month in September 2022 and to contribute to the foundation’s anniversary magazine in 2023.

The Misty Blue Cancer Care Foundation remains a pillar of hope, dedicated to educating and supporting cancer patients and those at risk.

On this 10th anniversary, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Dorothy Satchwell and her team. May the foundation continue its mission of service and transformation for many years to come.

As MistyBlue celebrates its tenth anniversary, I am honored to acknowledge its tremendous impact. Congratulations on this milestone and thank you for your life-changing work!

To the Founder and President, Ms Dorothy Satchwell, a true warrior and beacon of hope, I salute your unwavering dedication and vision. It’s been an absolute delight to witness the growth, resilience, and impact of this outstanding organization that is making a difference in the lives of so many people!

While I’ve not yet had the chance to experience one of the Foundation’s renowned health fairs, I’m grateful for the opportunity to have presented to your Executives on Quality Volunteerism: the Nuts and Bolts in 2019, and to have chaired one of your insightful webinars on Prostate Cancer in 2020. These moments truly highlighted the Foundation’s commitment to raising awareness and fostering health in western Jamaica and beyond.

It is my hope and prayer that the MistyBlue Cancer Care Foundation will continue to grow from strength to strength, touching even more lives in the years to come. Congratulations once again on this remarkable achievement! Keep shining and making a difference!

Besides the utilization of the media in sharing information on cancers, we have forged partnerships with her in the planning and execution of several outreach activities in the parish of Westmoreland. In the latter part of last year namely, September and October we staged two mega events. The one in September was geared up to provide an opportunity for the men in the parish to have their Protein Specific Antigen (PSA) and Digital Rectal Examination (DRE) done. ⁸ Meanwhile, the one in October was centred around breast cancer. Through these partnerships, we were able to build the self-efficacy of both males and females who attended these outreach activities. This was evident in the number of males who visited the intervention site each September to have their PSAs and DRE done. Similarly, there was also keen interest shown by our women to participate in the interactive sessions with the founder on the steps in performing breast self-examination with the clients at our clinics in the health centres as well as the hospital clinics. During October, she was able to secure mammogram vouchers to give to women who had never done one in their lifetime although they were in the age group to have one done. We are indeed grateful for this partnership with the foundation in serving the people of Westmoreland. You have certainly impacted the population in a very positive way and the Host of Health Talk wants to salute you on an epochal milestone

In October 2024 during Breast Cancer Awareness Month the Founder of the Organization, Miss Dorothy Satchwell expressed the desire to host one of the Foundation’s Church Services at Negril New Testament Church. Her request was granted and we welcomed them whole heartedly. Miss Satchwell gave a synopsis of the Foundation, its role and functions as also a brief presentation on Breast Cancer.

The last week in October was recognized as Ladies Week across the New Testament Churches and so having had a sneak preview on the subject we invited Miss Satchwell to do a Presentation on Breast Cancer. This was very rewarding and informative and was well received by our members.

We congratulate this noble organization on this their 10th Year of existence and look forward to a continued and mutually rewarding relationship with the MistyBlue Cancer Care Foundation and pray that God will bless them as they continue to offer invaluable service to the people of Westmoreland and by extension the island of Jamaica.
