WELCOME
MistyBlue Cancer Care Foundation Limited is a charitable organisation whose purpose is to inform, educate and support cancer patients, cancer survivors and citizens generally in the parish of Westmoreland and its environs. The entity was registered with the Jamaica Companies’ Office in March 2015 and had its official launch in July of the same year. The idea underpinning the emergence of the Foundation came about because of the Founder’s personal experience with cancer. At the time of her cancer diagnosis she was made shockingly aware of the woeful lack of resources available to cancer patients and their families within the parish of her birth, Westmoreland. The idea of a foundation that seeks to offer support through cancer prevention education and assist in raising alerts on eliminating risk factors that contribute to cancer for the citizens within the parish and its environs was birthed.
Hi there! I’m Dorothy Satchwell, and I’m so glad you’ve found your way here to the Mistyblue Cancer Care Foundation Limited.
The foundation was born out of my own journey with cancer— In 2011 I was diagnosed with breast cancer and it was a journey full of challenges but also taught me so much about resilience, love, and purpose. I believe everything we go through in life has a reason. It’s not about labeling experiences as “good” or “bad” but about learning from them and letting them shape us into who we’re meant to be.
Going through cancer wasn’t easy, but it gave me the strength and perspective to connect with others who are on similar paths. Everyone’s experience with cancer is different—whether you’re a patient, a caregiver, a family member, or a friend. Each story is unique, filled with moments of pain, hope, loss, and even unexpected laughter.
That’s why I started MistyBlue. My hope is to offer support, encouragement, and a sense of community to everyone who needs it. Whether you’re looking for guidance, someone to talk to, or just a little inspiration, we’re here for you. You’re not alone in this, and together, we can face the challenges with love, courage, and compassion.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Let’s walk it together—one step at a time.
With love and hope,
